Names Give Meaning

  |

Eiffel Tower, iPhone, Home, Google, Pizza, Rain and Bible.  Names–everything has a name. Names give meaning to a person, place, or thing and can elicit emotion and memories.  Some names are common place and known by all; others can be insider names that create a sense of obscurity, a feeling of the unknown.  Here at Faith Church we are continuing to move in the vein of Relationship – being known by God and by others.  We want people to feel welcomed.  Therefore we are doing our best to  erase the obscure insider language that can alienate a person from being known because the name of something is unclear.

If you have been around Faith Church for any number of years, you may have heard the name “Mini-Church” mentioned.  What is a Mini-Church you may ask?  Well, a Mini-Church is, as hinted at by its name, a Small Group.  In our effort to make things clearer, however, we are moving away from the name “Mini-Church” in order to erase what could be seen as “insider language.”  We feel we should call it exactly what it is– a “Small Group.”  What hasn’t changed is what happens in a Small Group.  A Small Group is a place where people support and care for one another, a place to apply God’s Word to your everyday walk with the Lord, a place for discipleship as well as a place to serve with one another or to serve each other.  We don’t want people to miss this opportunity to connect in Relationship with God and each other.  The only question we hope you’ll ask is “How can I connect to a Small Group?”  To find out more, visit our “Find a Group” link at: www.wearefaith.org or look for Small Groups listed in this very issue!  We pray you become known  by “name” in a Small Group!
