Scattered Into Government

  |

Continue the Conversation Questions
Scattered | Scripture Reference:  Nehemiah 2:1-10
Discuss the following questions with your Small Group:

  1. When you hear the words government, politics or political, what comes to mind?
  2. Have you served outside of the church in your community?  [A committee at school; school board; park district; election judge; etc.?]  If so, how did you first get involved?
  3. Can you think of any Biblical characters were used in their political setting to work good for others and to bring glory to GOD?  Discuss.
  4. Read Romans 13:1-7.  Paul was a Roman citizen, and the ruler of his day, Caesar, claimed to be a god.  Yet, Paul said we are to be subject to the governing authorities.  Why are there public authorities according to this passage?  Is there a time when we shouldn’t obey them?
  5. In Nehemiah 2:1-10 what risks does Nehemiah take?
  6. How does Nehemiah come to a place where he is bold enough to ask the unthinkable of King Artaxerxes?
  7. Is the Lord asking you to be a servant instead of critic when it comes to government?  If so, what action and/or risk, is the Lord calling you take, for the good of others and for His glory?
  8. Further passages to consider: Mark 12:13-17,  Acts 25:10-11,  Acts 5:27-32,  Daniel 3:16-18

Truth in Genesis

What’s truth? We live in a society where people tend to define their own truths, using their own guidelines. Where values and beliefs are spun in such a way that makes us question if God’s way really is the best.

But does a Universal Truth exist? We believe there is and it’s been recorded in roughly 757,000 words. We invite you to join us as we open that source, God’s Word, and equip you to have complicated conversations with those who are defining their own truth.
