Continue the Conversation Questions
Scattered | Scripture Reference: Nehemiah 2:1-10
Discuss the following questions with your Small Group:
- When you hear the words government, politics or political, what comes to mind?
- Have you served outside of the church in your community? [A committee at school; school board; park district; election judge; etc.?] If so, how did you first get involved?
- Can you think of any Biblical characters were used in their political setting to work good for others and to bring glory to GOD? Discuss.
- Read Romans 13:1-7. Paul was a Roman citizen, and the ruler of his day, Caesar, claimed to be a god. Yet, Paul said we are to be subject to the governing authorities. Why are there public authorities according to this passage? Is there a time when we shouldn’t obey them?
- In Nehemiah 2:1-10 what risks does Nehemiah take?
- How does Nehemiah come to a place where he is bold enough to ask the unthinkable of King Artaxerxes?
- Is the Lord asking you to be a servant instead of critic when it comes to government? If so, what action and/or risk, is the Lord calling you take, for the good of others and for His glory?
